DOCTOR'S MEET ON 6TH MAY, 2011
On 6th May, 2011, the Centre had organized an In-house work shop and CME which highlighted the functioning and benefits of the EECP therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation. Dr. Zainulabedin Hamdulay and Dr. Fahad Merchant spoke extensively on these subjects and also explained through a live demonstration of a patient being treated on the EECP machine.
Many senior doctors and medical practitioners had participated in this workshop. The President of the Indian medical Association [Mumbai branch], Dr. C.M. Dharia had also graced this occasion and was impressed by the services of the Centre. Certificates were issued to all participants.
On 26th February, 2011 [Saturday], a free Cardiac Camp was organized for the Police officers and staff at the Nagpada Police Station, Mumbai. Blood investigations, such as, Lipid Profile and Fasting Blood Sugar and ECG test were conducted. The Camp was very much appreciated and 72 police personnel enthusiastically participated for the tests.
The Camp is part of our on-going social commitment towards promotion of Cardiac health amongst the residents of our neighborhood.
A Cardiac camp was organized for the Memon community at the Halai Memon Jamaatkhana at Pydhonie on the 29th of January, 2011. Lipid profile, fasting blood sugar and ECG tests were conducted free of cost. Over 50 members of the Jamaat participated and took advantage of the diagnostic tests provided by us. Privilege cards were also given to them to enable them to avail of our special benefits and discounts.
The Camp was conducted in complete alliance with the committee members of the Jamaat who were very helpful and appreciative of the initiatives taken by us. A special mention of praise was given to our Dr. Fahad Merchant for conducting the camp smoothly.
On 28th November, 2010 a special Cardiac camp was organized at the Doodhwala Co-op Housing Society at Mumbai Central. Lipid Profile and Fasting Blood Sugar [FBS] tests were conducted and Privilege Cards were distributed to the participants. The camp was a big success and was much appreciated by the residents and the society committee.
July 30, 2010 saw the visit of Dr. John Buckley [President, British Cardiovascular Society as well as Head of Centre of Exercise and Nutrition Science, University of Chester, UK] and Professor Sarah Andrew [Dean, Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences, University of Chester, UK].
They were very impressed by the Cardiac Rehabilitation program and facility which we have and offered us the status of a training centre for their students in Mumbai who are undergoing the Cardiac Rehabilitation course run by the University of Chester, UK. They also offered the position of an Honorary Tutor to our Consultant for Preventive Cardiology & Rehabilitation, Dr. Fahad Merchant.
This recognition is, indeed, a feather in the cap of Dr. Hamdulay’s Cardiac Rehab Centre, as it validates the concerted effort and strict quality standards observed by the Cardiac Rehab team.
A pre- Ramzan Health Check-up camp was organized for all our valued Muslim patients on the 6th and 7th of August. The camp was conducted free of cost and comprised of blood tests for Fasting Sugar and Lipid profile. A Body Composition Analysis was also done for the registered participants.
A talk was given by Mrs. Rashida Vandeliwala [Nutritionist] to the patients on how to take care of their diet and nutrition when observing fast during the month of Ramzan. Dr. Nilsin Porbandarwala [Physiotherapist] also gave a talk explaining the benefits of remaining active and doing light exercise even whilst fasting during Ramzan.
As an added bonus, Dr. Z.A. Hamdulay also gave an educative talk on how to manage Cardiac medication during Ramzan.
The camp was a huge success and there were over 50 patients who took advantage of this opportunity and benefited from it. There was a request to have such camps at frequent intervals.
An International patient from Nigeria, Mr. Ige Joseph Olabisi, underwent a full Cardiac Rehab program recommended after surgery for valve replacement. He was thoroughly satisfied with the treatment he received.
